Stephen Paraan (Capas High School) is not new to blogging but has not imbibed the blogging fever until Mr. Glenn Mark Reales introduced their group to the possibilities of blogs and other online tools on May 20-21, 2009 at the Pampanga Agricultural College. Stephen resolves to create a blog for their school.

First ever camp blog kicks off in Angeles City, Pampanga

The Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) iSchools project continues to be an innovative provider of ICT-related experiences and opportunities as it implements the first-ever Camp Blog on May 17-28, 2009.

The term Camp Blog may well be adopted from the famous 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie, Camp Rock, but this event has an identity of its own, especially when the participants started to come in. The “campers” are a combination of teachers and students from the various iSchools beneficiaries from the different parts of the country. These teachers and students underwent screening, i.e. they had to comply with the requirements set by the camp organizers before they could be a part of this event. Continue reading

A lot of our problems in the country today are being blamed on the present administration. Increase in prizes of commodities, erratic economic growth, environmental degradation, hunger, malnutrition, etc. – blame it on PGMA. I must admit, I have my own complaints too. But then, I got involved in a government project, which I have to say, showed me the good side of this government – the iSchools project.

I got involved in the project as the online writer, only last year, although it started in 2006. Since then, I got to know more about the good things the government is doing via this project. Continue reading

PGMA visits iSchools in Binalonan

Binalonan, Pangasinan – Today is the town’s fiesta. Part of the festivities is a visit from a daughter of the Province, who is no less than the President of the Philippines – Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

As early as 8:00 in the morning, teachers, students and staff of Juan G. Macaraeg National High School were on the ready for the arrival of the President. Armed with their welcome placards and smiles, they eagerly and patiently awaited the arrival of the President. Continue reading

iSchools community mobilization in La Union

As a take off point for the establishment of the next batch of iSchools recipients, the BSU iSchools team conducted community mobilization in three public high schools in La Union.

The Acao National High School is the only recipient in Bauang, La Union. The school was able to seek the help of the Municipal Government of Bauang, the Parent-Teacher-and-Community Association (PTCA) and the Barangay officials for the reconstruction of one school room into a laboratory room for the iSchools. Community mobilization for the said school was done on January 22, 2009. This was attended by representatives from the supporting institutions. Continue reading

BSU conducts computer lab management training

In its bid to sustain its role as a leading educational institution in information

and communications technology in the Cordilleras, Benguet State University (BSU) conducted the Laboratory Management Training-BSU Cluster on September 22-26, 2008.

 

Public high school teachers who were designated by their respective schools as librarians, laboratory managers, Information and Communications Technology(ICT) coordinators, and web managers attended the five-day training at the BSU-Secondary Laboratory School (BSU-SLS)  iSchools laboratory. The participants came from the iSchools recipients in Baguio City, Benguet, Apayao, Pangasinan, Quezon, Cagayan and Aurora. Continue reading
